With the summer rolling it has been hard for me to find time to sit down and compose a blog. Adding to the difficulty is a dry streak that has lasted about a month. I have been getting cooled, dry decked and always seem to make the wrong decisions. I am confident that it will turn around, hopefully sooner than later but I am least learning as I go. One hard learned lesson has been patience. I have never been a patient person, but when your running like I am right now patience is the only thing that will keep you alive. I have been grinding through it, standing up from the table, walking around keeping my concentration high. Hopefully I can bust trough this down streaksoon.... my patience is wearing thin.

Free time is becoming scarce with the summer approaching, and it has take it’s toll on the frequency of my blogs, and frankly the quality. It seems my blog has become an update of my poker status with a quick hand history from one of my recent sessions. That was not my intended direction when I chose to write this, and I am going to try and get a little bit back on track. I would like to discuss something I read in an article in Card Player magazine. I believe the title of the article was “Learning Limit Hold’em before No Limit Hold’em”. In this article he was discussing the positive and negative side to learning Limit before learning No Limit. The author himself states he learned limit before no limit. At one point he discusses a hand that he felt illustrates a weakness of learning limit first through one of his friends hand histories. In this hand the friend had limped pre with 67 suited in a $1/2 NL game from mid position after a few limps before him, a player raised from late posi... [ Continued ]

There is a regular at my casino that usually plays the 5/10 game or the 2/5 game if the 5/20 isn't running. As I play at 1/3 I have never had the experience of playing with this gentleman. Last night he showed up and the 2/5 game was full. He sat at my 1/3 table, waiting for a seat to open. LUCKY ME! This guy has deep pockets, and is the most aggressive live player I have ever seen. no joke, every pot was raised between 25-50 preflop. EVERY HAND. He sits down, bets 35 pre. A caller. He bets 150 on the flop. caller folds. This happens a few hands in a row and then someone pushes all in on him. He calls with nadda and runner runner 2 pair to win the pot. He sucked out on a few more players to build a tower of chips in the 2k range in about an hour. Understandably there were some very upset players, "he is ruining the game" "fuck this isnt even poker, lets flip a coin" etc. What did I do? Kept my head, seat changed one seat to his left and hunkered in for the long haul.... [ Continued ]

I got a virus on my PC and couldn't access the web... I finally got everything reformatted and reinstalled so I can keep up with my blog again. I am up another $500 from live play after 2 more trips to the casino, but my online game is still very bad. I have been looking at my online game and have pretty much decided I am trying to do to many things at once. I don't focus as well when I am playing online. No more multi tasking for me... when I am playing online I am not going to be doing anything else at the same time. Hopefully it turns my game around. A hand I would like to discuss that happened this past Tues at the casino I am dealt in the BB(Seat 9). Seat 4, medicore passive player, raises to $15, seat 5, a fairly tight aggressive player, calls and it folds to me. I call. seat 4 has about $200 Seat 5 has $700 and I... [ Continued ]

I have not had to much time to put into the poker tracking spreadsheet(track your sessions) I have been working on, but it is nearing completion. I am working on the last step, the graphs. Right now I am going to have Profit/time, ROI/time, Profit/game type ROI/gametype Profit /limit Roi/limit.
Any other graphs you guys think would be helpfull to have?
